^ Very interesting article on Anorexia mirabilis, Latin for 'miraculous starvation', the phenomenon of 'starving girls' who fasted for God. Even though Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa wasn't acknowledged as diseases until 1970, it has certainly existed for much longer. Only for different reasons.
